These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings and services provided by Scaly Safari.

By making a booking, paying a deposit, or using our services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms below.

1. About Our Services

Scaly Safari provides educational animal experiences using live reptiles, invertebrates, and small mammals.

All sessions are delivered by experienced handlers with animal welfare and participant safety as the top priority.

Animal interaction is optional, supervised, and always led by the animals’ wellbeing.

2. Bookings & Payments

2.1 Booking Confirmation

A non-refundable booking deposit is required to secure your date.
A booking is not confirmed until:

  • the deposit has been paid, and

  • the booking form has been completed.

2.2 Remaining Balance

The remaining balance is due one week before the event date, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Failure to pay the balance by the due date may result in cancellation of the booking.

2.3 Cancellations by the Client

  • The booking deposit is non-refundable.

  • If you cancel within 7 days of the event, no refund will be issued.

  • One reschedule may be offered at our discretion, subject to availability.

3. Health, Safety & Supervision

3.1 Animal Interaction

All animals are handled by trained staff. Participants may be invited to interact with animals only when appropriate and under direct supervision.

Animals remain animals, and behaviour cannot be guaranteed.

3.2 Supervision of Children

Children remain the responsibility of the supervising adults at all times.

We may pause or stop interaction if behaviour becomes unsafe for people or animals.

3.3 Allergies & Sensitivities

It is the responsibility of the booking adult to inform us in advance of:

  • allergies

  • phobias

  • medical or sensory needs

We will make reasonable adjustments where possible.

4. Animal Welfare (Non-Negotiable)

Animal welfare is not optional.

We reserve the right to:

  • limit handling

  • substitute animals

  • pause or stop the session

if we believe welfare standards are being compromised.

Any mistreatment, harassment, or disregard for instructions may result in the session being ended without refund.

5. Event Environment & Venue Responsibilities

5.1 Suitable Environment

The client is responsible for providing:

  • sufficient space

  • appropriate temperature

  • safe surfaces

  • reasonable noise levels

  • access to hand-washing facilities where possible

5.2 Outdoor Events

For outdoor bookings, a suitable indoor backup must be available in case of unsuitable weather.

5.3 Venue Permissions

If the event takes place at a third-party venue (e.g. hall, school, care home), it is the client’s responsibility to ensure animals are permitted on site.

6. Photography & Media

6.1 Client Photography

Clients may take photos and videos, provided animals are not stressed or disturbed.

6.2 Scaly Safari Photography

Scaly Safari may take photographs or short videos for promotional use.

If you wish to opt out, please inform us in writing before the event.

7. Cancellations by Scaly Safari

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to:

  • animal illness or welfare concerns

  • handler illness

  • unsafe venue conditions

  • extreme weather

  • transport issues

In these cases, we will offer:

  • a full refund or

  • an alternative date

8. Liability & Responsibility

Scaly Safari takes all reasonable steps to provide a safe, well-managed experience.

However:

  • participation is voluntary

  • animals may behave unpredictably

  • some risk is inherent in working with live animals

By booking, you accept responsibility for ensuring that all attendees follow instructions given by Scaly Safari staff.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

9. Indemnity

The booking adult agrees to take responsibility for the conduct of attendees and to indemnify Scaly Safari against damage caused by negligence, misuse, or failure to follow instructions.

10. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

11. Changes to These Terms

Scaly Safari reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions.

The version in effect at the time of booking will apply to your event.

12. Acceptance

By paying a deposit or proceeding with a booking, you confirm acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
